Great location for walking in the nearby hills and exploring the Assynt area. the staff were friendly and offered a complimentary upgrade due to bad weather. the bunkhouse accommodation was budget-friendly, clean, and comfortable. the huge kitchen and dining area were convenient for preparing meals. Continental breakfast was a nice bonus.
The hut itself was quite hot, especially overnight, and the provided fan was noisy. the shower and toilet hut was a bit of a walk away.

The breakfast could be improved with a wider variety of options.

They even went out of their way to assist with bike storage and laundry facilities. the lodge had all the essential amenities and was kept incredibly clean. It was also a bonus that they sold ingredients at reasonable prices, in case you need to stock up for meals. the pies they offered were definitely worth trying!
The lack of nearby restaurants or shops within a 10-mile radius, so it's important to stock up on dinner ingredients. the toilets could be a bit busy at times, which was slightly inconvenient.

The staff at this lodge were absolutely amazing and made us feel incredibly welcome. the lodge itself was spacious, clean, and had a cozy atmosphere. the bed in our room was super comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Another great aspect was the continental breakfast offered in the mornings - a fantastic bonus! the location of the lodge was perfect, making it an ideal stop on the NC500 route. And of course, having a drying room was a huge advantage for us outdoor enthusiasts!
The only minor drawback was the lack of assistance with making the bed. After a long day of exploring, it would have been nice to have the bed ready-made.

My partner and I stayed at the Explorers Lodge for a weekend getaway to explore the stunning Assynt area. The clean and comfortable twin room provided everything we needed, with shared toilets and showers just down the hallway. The highlight was definitely the stag we spotted right outside our window! The self-catering facilities were excellent, with a spacious kitchen, dining room, and lounge area. We also appreciated the convenience of a small on-site shop. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise, and the staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The dorm room and communal areas had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the outside terrace looked lovely, even though we were thwarted by bad weather. the location, amenities, and friendly staff made for a fantastic Highland experience.
Can recommend this hotel.

The hosts were an amazing couple who made us feel right at home. The continental breakfast was included and had a great selection of toast, cereal, fresh coffee, and juices. The location was absolutely stunning, surrounded by mountains and with a stag roaming outside our window. The house itself was beautiful and the temperature control in the room was fantastic. The staff were incredibly helpful and informative, with maps everywhere and even providing treats and a towel for our dog at no extra cost. The bathroom was great, very clean and had all the essential amenities. There were also board games, a drying room, parking, recycling, and self-catering facilities available for us to use. The bed was comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The fact that there was even a shop in the main building for any forgotten items was great. The staff went above and beyond, helping us store our bikes and do our laundry. Although it was remote, it was a great place to explore Lochinver and the Assynt hills. We highly recommend trying the pies they sell at the lodge, they're definitely worth it! The ward was fantastic and showed us around the whole hostel, even treated us to a pizza, beer, and a cigarette. The people at the hostel were all very friendly, especially the group from Spain who were unable to find a restaurant, but they didn't seem to mind. Despite sharing a room with 7 other people, the night was quiet and the facilities like the shower, kitchen, and toilet all worked perfectly. We couldn't have asked for a better stay!

The staff at the lodge were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure a great stay. The location was absolutely breathtaking, surrounded by stunning mountains and offering beautiful views from both the bedroom and dining room. The self-catering facilities were well-equipped and convenient, perfect for those who prefer to cook their own meals.
The lack of a ground floor toilet, which was inconvenient considering that the dining room and other common areas were located on that floor. there were some minor issues with the kitchen being sparsely equipped with cutlery and utensils.
